IdeaScale has 4 different security settings -- please see the references section below for a detailed discussion on each of the security settings:
- High - Authenticated Users Only -
This security setting can be used when creating "Internal" or "Employee Only" portals.
- Each user must be approved by the administrator/moderators before that can post/view ideas.
- Un-Approved users WILL NOT be able to view ideas and post ideas.
- When new users sign-up using the web interface, the moderator will be sent an email with a link to approve the user. Once the user is approved, they can login and view/post ideas, comments etc.
- With this security setting individual ideas (that approved users post) are not moderated -- once users are approved, the assumption is that they can view/post ideas without any further manual approval process.
- Medium - Moderated Approved Postings Only
This security setting allows anyone to join the Idea Portal WITHOUT manual approval. However, ideas are manually approved by moderators. This security setting is generally used with customers/partners where you do not have an effective means of approving users simply based on email address.
- Users can sign-up online and view all the ideas posted WITHOUT any approval.
- They can vote on ideas and comment on idea WITHOUT any approval.
- If they submit new ideas, they need to be approved by the moderators for them to show up in the portal.
- Moderators will receive an email with an approval link when new ideas are posted.
- Default - No Moderation
This security setting does NOT have any moderator approval. It will however require that user register and validate their email address before submitting an idea. Users will have to validate their email address to post ideas, post comments and vote on ideas.
- Users can VIEW all ideas without having to sign-up.
- If users want to post ideas, comments or vote on ideas - they will have to register with you and validate their email address.
- No Authentication/Login - Allow Anonymous Posts
This security setting allows users to post ideas, vote on ideas and post comment WITHOUT registering. Users are however required to submit their email address (when they are posting new ideas or commenting on ideas) to identify them - Email addresses are however not validated .
- Users can VIEW/POST Ideas without registering.
- Users can comment and vote on ideas without registering (anonymous.)
